Lately, I have been enjoying smoothie bowls for breakfast and banana ice cream for dinner, and I’m loving it. This is my first smoothie bowl recipe I’ve shared on the blog. Yay!
Smoothie bowls are my favorite, and I see why so many people enjoy them. Not only are smoothie bowls colorful, but they’re an excellent way to get in your daily greens and an array of nutrients in a single serving (or meal). They make a powerful breakfast or lunch or dinner, and are really quite satisfying.
Smoothie bowls are a little different than drinking a smoothie, obviously, because instead of adding water to your smoothie and pouring it in a mason jar to drink it – you pour your thick smoothie consistency in a bowl and top if off with superfoods, sliced fruit and nut butter if you like. You can get really creative with smoothie bowls, and that’s the fun part about them.
Bananas are my ultimate staple food and I always make sure to have ripe ones on hand. I was a few days without bananas and that made me realize that bananas are my NUMBER ONE TOP staple fruit. They make up to 99% of my diet, due to their versatility. You can blend them up into smoothies, freeze them up to make banana nice cream, peel and eat them like that to make a light, yet satisfying meal, and much much more! Bananas are LIFE.
Enjoy the smoothie bowl recipe and let me know how you like it.
PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY SUPERFOOD BANANA SMOOTHIE BOWL
You Will Need:
- a high speed blender such as a Dash digital blender
- a bowl or two
- spoons
Serves 2
Ingredients for the Smoothie Base:
- 3 frozen bananas and 3 fresh bananas (use ONLY RIPE cheetah spotted bananas!!! Very crucial) NOTE: if you do not have any frozen bananas, just use fresh ones.
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon Vitamin C from Sari Foods
Toppings:
- 1/2 tsp Vitamin C from Sari Foods
- 1 tsp Crazy Richard Peanut Butter (optional. I used crunchy)
- drizzle of Wholesome Sweet black strap molasses
- 1/2 cup moon drop grapes (or any grape variety you want for the “jelly” sauce)
Directions
First – make the jelly sauce by blending fresh (and well washed) grapes into a crunchy or smooth sauce. Pour in a small bowl and set aside.
Second, make your smoothie by blending 6 bananas in a high speed blender until a creamy, thick and smooth consistency. Pour your smoothie mixture in a bowl and top if off with superfoods, fresh fruits and nut butter. Anything you’d like. In joy 🙂
